THE FULLERTON HERITAGE’S ‘ART IN THE CITY’

Dedicated to promoting local art and culture as well as infusing art within the cityscape, The Fullerton Heritage initiated ‘Art in the City” in 2009. The programme showcases art exhibitions and activities at The Fullerton Heritage precinct, which is rich in heritage and culture. Besides providing offering premier venues to host art and cultural programmes, ‘Art in the City’ offers publicity support and organises educational programmes to help both established and budding artists introduce their works to the public.

Collective Memories II by Aw Tee Hong

A sequel to Collective Memories – A Collection of Paintings by Aw Tee Hong, Collective Memories II showcases another collection of Aw Tee Hong’s paintings from the early 1970s to 2000s.

Collective Memories II showcases the way Mr. Aw recorded the changing landscape, by interpreting these changes through the use of fine brushworks and bold colors. He switches effortlessly amongst various mediums such as oil, acrylic, water color, charcoal and even wood block print. Mr. Aw is one of the few local artists who is versatile and proficient in many art forms and media. A master of controlling the nuances of the Chinese brush, Mr. Aw’s extensive background in Chinese calligraphy and ink painting is a cornerstone in his work. The weaving lines and curves apparent in his pencil sketches of landscapes and the fluidity and simplicity in his presentation of his subjects and objects are simply admirable.

This exhibition will take place at The East Garden Foyer from 2 April to 2 May 2012.

Singapore Connection – A debut art exhibition by Nadia Bertrand and Janette Maxey

North American artists Ms. Nadia Bertrand’s and Ms. Janette Maxey’s debut and joint art exhibition in Singapore, Singapore Connection is an exciting collaboration which describes the artists’ unique perspectives on the beauty of Singapore. Nadia and Janette met serendipitously while admiring Little India and a connection was made; of artists and ofSingapore. Both artists share the same passion and intensity for painting, unencumbered by boundaries of their different approaches of forms and colours.

Nadia and Janette will pledge 100% from the sale of one of their paintings, as well as 20% of the total proceeds from the sales of paintings to the Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) Needy Patients Fund, which is established to provide financial aid to the Hospital’s needy patients and their families for medical treatment and other services such as assistive devices.

This exhibition will take place at The Fullerton Heritage Gallery from 2 April to 7 May 2012.
