The Fullerton Heritage Celebrates Singapore's History with A Fullerton Love Story Tour And The Debut of A Music Concert by Teng Ensemble

Date Monday, March 21, 2016

SINGAPORE, 21 March 2016 – From 30 April to 14 May 2016, The Fullerton Heritage presents two unique art and cultural experiences at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, recreating scenes of the past and welcoming visitors to relive memories of old at the historic destination during Singapore Heritage Festival.

A Fullerton Love Story Tour

Step through the revolving doors of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore after dark and join our resident tour guide on an adventure as she regales visitors with stories of the past and guides them through the hallowed hallways of Singapore’s 71st National Monument - once home to the General Post Office, Ministry of Finance and the iconic Fullerton Lighthouse atop its roof.

As one wanders through the nook and cranny and scales the lighthouse rooftop of the historic monument, characters from the past who once worked in The Fullerton Building will come alive. Played by professional theatre actors Dwayne Lau and Jo Tan, visitors will find themselves in the midst of a most improbable love story between a humble postman and a stalwart civil servant reaching the upper echelons of the finance world. With riddles for participants to solve, everyone is encouraged to be part of the story in the making. Finally when the journey ends, a decadent chocolate buffet awaits at The Courtyard.

The Fullerton Love Story Tour is available for booking online on Saturday, 30th April, 7th May and 14th May from 8.00pm to 11.00pm at http://afullertonlovestory.peatix.com. Tickets are priced at $69 nett for adults and $35 nett for children (aged between 6 to 11 years old).

A Public Concert by TENG Ensemble

On 7 May 2016, The Fullerton Heritage debuts with a music extravaganza presented by critically-acclaimed TENG ENSEMBLE entitled Where the River Always Flows. Free for public enjoyment, the outdoor performance is held at the historic Fullerton Square, known as Mile Zero of Singapore; a riveting spot where political rallies once took centre stage.

Where the River Always Flows draws reference from the Singapore River that is rich with history; a lifeline to Singapore in our formative years. The TENG Ensemble’s performance at the mouth of the Singapore River, on the grounds of The Fullerton Hotel aims to bring listeners a taste of Singapore’s heritage music that has shaped not just a Singaporean culture, but an identity. TENG’s repertoire will include reinvented versions of well-loved folk songs such as Munnaeru Vaalibaa and Chan Mali Chan on traditional Chinese instruments and modern electronic instruments. Both the young and old can hum along to familiar Singaporean tunes as they embark on a nostalgic revisiting of the Singapore River that was once abuzz with life and activities. Other pieces draw inspiration from Malay, Portuguese, Korean and English folk songs that are popular in the region.

Complimentary tickets to the concert are available at http://wheretheriveralwaysflows.peatix.comFor enquiries, please email enquiries@fullerton-heritage.com.
