LIGHTING DETECTIVES' WORKSHOP

Date  One Fullerton Seaview Channel

Date  05 March 2016 - 05 March 2016

The Lighting Detectives is a non-profit group dedicated to the study of lighting culture through practical methods, mainly by engaging in fieldwork.

This year, as part of i Light Marina Bay 2016, Lighting Detectives will be holding a lantern-making & installation workshop for the public. Participants will be expected to make use of recyclable materials such as paper roll cores, corks and egg cartons. The theme for this year’s i Light Marina Bay, 'In Praise of Shadows', coincides with our lighting design methodology. As lighting designers, Lighting Detectives, are sensitive to and appreciate the existence of shadows and they hope that everyone can attain the same level of appreciation towards light and shadow.

Hand-crafting the lanterns will enable the participants to truly appreciate the details that go into each piece of work and by reusing materials, Lighting Detectives hope to inspire the public to be more sensitive and give new meaning to the waste we produce. These works will then be displayed as part of i Light Marina Bay 2016.
