As part of our efforts to support the vibrant arts and culture scene in the Civic District, The Fullerton Heritage is giving away five pair of tickets (worth up to SS$72 each) to the Singapore International Festival of Music (SIFOM), happening from 13 to 30 October 2016. Featuring members from Chamber Orchestra of Europe
Members from the legendary Chamber Orchestra of Europe, billed as “the world’s best chamber orchestra”, join forces with the Singapore International Festival of Music (SIFOM) Orchestra, to present an epic concert celebrating this year’s festival theme, Myths and Legends. Under the baton of SIFOM’s Artistic Director and Grammy-nominated Singapore conductor Darrell Ang, Myths and Legends presents an exhilarating repertoire evoking the beauty of folklore and fairytales. Maverick violinist Aleksey Semenenko, joined by pianist Kerim Vergazov, also participates in this opening concert.

One of Norway's most acclaimed chamber orchestras, 1B1, presents a selection of enchanting melodies that bring to life the splendour and ever-changing movement of the seasons. 4 of Singapore's young rising classical music stars perform alongside the electrifying group This mesmerising programme juxtaposes three different, yet equally evocative, musical landscapes: Holberg Suite, a much-loved work by Edvard Grieg, The Four Seasons by Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi and the Argentine Tango by Ástor Piazzolla. Singapore's grand dame of opera, Nancy Yuen, with the SIFOM Orchestra will open the concert with excerpts from Wagner’s opera, The Flying Dutchman.

Two of opera’s rising young stars, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya and Li Ao, present a enthralling mix of operatic favourites inspired by the Festival's theme of Myths and Legends. The selection includes Mozart's Cosi fan tutte and La Finta Giardiniera as well as Schubert's Die Forelle and Der Erlköning inspired by Myths and Legends. Berzhanskaya is a soloist at the famed Bolshoi Theatre and Li, the winner of Placido Domingo's pretigious Operalia competition and soloist at New York's Metropolitan Opera.
- New Music in a Mythic Landscape - Arts House, 19 October, 7.30pm

Featuring a repertoire from a compelling cast of Singapore composers such as Ho Chee Kong and John Sharpely from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music as well as young composers in the likes of Tan Yu Ting (currently studying at Juilliard School), and Bertram Wee (who has performed with Dame Evelyn Glennie and at the famed BBC Proms), this performance explores the shifting landscape of music in Singapore.
- Portrait of a Composer/Ikan Girl - Arts House, 21 October, 7.30pm
Syafiqah 'Adha Sallehin, accordion
Bhui Collective
Featuring the artist-in-residence Syafiqah 'Adha Sallehin, be charmed by the world premiere of this commissioned work about a story of good triumphing over evil. Ikan Girl, inspired by a Malay ancient poem known as the Syair Bidasari, will be presented in the form of a multidisciplinary performance that incorporates movement vocabulary from Malay dance, Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance genres. It will also feature original music composed collaboratively and performed 'live' by classical and traditional musicians.
