“IN THEIR OWN WORDS” EXHIBITION

Date  East Garden Foyer

Date  01 March 2018 - 01 April 2018

Storytelling is the heartbeat of social change. Stories transform minds, inspire action, and unite people. In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the Singapore Committee for UN Women presents stories of 10 unique men and women advancing the cause of gender equality in their professions, passions and aspirations through a photography exhibition at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore in the month of March.

The 10 unique men and women were sought out by the Singapore Committee for UN Women for having taken the road less travelled by speaking up, removing obstacles, and influencing the next generation. From a pastry commis at Les Amis restaurant to an adventure racing coach, each story is told to exemplify every individual’s effort in using their journeys and experiences to stand for women rights and equality.

The exhibition stories were written by Christina Liew, an officer and member of the Executive Committee at UN Women Singapore, who believes in the power of narratives as a vehicle to change the world while the exhibition photographs were taken by Jenson Lee, a photographer who looks at images through the eyes of a seasoned art director.

“In Their Own Words” exhibition is held at the East Garden Foyer, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore from 1 March to 1 April 2018, from 10.00 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.
