Fullerton Merlion Plushies Make Timely Debut In Celebration Of Earth Day 2016

Date Wednesday, April 20, 2016

SINGAPORE, 20 April 2016The Fullerton Heritage celebrates Earth Day on 22 April 2016 with the introduction of our new in-room amenity - the Fullerton Merlion plushie - in The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, both of which are located in close proximity to Merlion Park at Marina Bay.

The Fullerton Merlion plushy is inspired by the national icon of Singapore – the mythical Merlion with the head of a lion and body of a fish, while its batik fabric embodies Singapore’s multi-ethnicity and diversity. Hotel guests will have the option of reusing their bed linen simply by placing the Fullerton Merlion plushie on the bed. Through this effort, the hotels hope to garner guests’ support in reducing the impact on the environment by conserving water.

Each Fullerton Merlion plushie is created by disadvantaged women from Mother and Child Project, providing them with a source of income. Guests are welcomed to bring the Fullerton Merlion plushie home by purchasing it for S$20 at The Fullerton Shop, located at the lobby level of The Fullerton Hotel.

ABOUT MOTHER AND CHILD PROJECT

Mother and Child Project products are made in Singapore by mothers (mostly single mothers with children), retirees and women recovering from psychiatric illnesses. By providing sewing contract work under the Mother and Child brand, the Project provides home-based work for disadvantaged mothers and their children so that they can become economically self-sufficient. Mother and Child Project is a Social Enterprise run by Singapore Anglican Community Services and seed funded by Comcare Enterprise Fund.
