SINGAPORE, 3 April 2017 – Following the successful instalment of “A Fullerton Love Story Tour” and “Where the River Always Flows” in 2016, The Fullerton Heritage presents a second run of the two programmes from 29 April to 13 May 2017 at Singapore’s 71st National Monument - The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Guests can look forward to a captivating interplay of music, theatre, heritage and culinary immersions, tailor-made to acquaint them with the National Monument’s rich legacy during Singapore Heritage Festival.

A Fullerton Love Story Tour

What happens when guests steps through the revolving doors of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore after dark? Join our resident tour guide on an adventure as he takes you on a journey through 89 years of legacies, stories and secrets untold in Singapore’s 71st National Monument.

As one journeys on, guests will witness characters from the past come alive and find themselves in the midst of a most improbable love story between a humble postman played by theatre actor Edward Choy and a stalwart civil servant; played by theatre actress, Isabelle Chiam; who is trying to reach the upper echelons of the finance world. Watch the actors as they regale one with fact, fiction and a dose of amusing anecdotes stemming from the historic monument which was once home to the General Post Office, Ministry of Finance and the famous Singapore Club. Guests will find themselves becoming part of the story in the making, as they get swept into a world where romance never goes out of date and solving riddles in letters could land one a soul mate.

At the end of the tour, a selection of desserts created by Executive Pastry Chef, Enrico Pezzelato will delight one long into the night at The Courtyard. Crafted to satisfy every romantic whim and fancy, guests can choose from any one of five special cakes, and pair it with a choice of coffee, tea or juice. The cake selection ranges from Enchanted Garden (Chantilly-filled Raspberry Meringue Mushroom, Pistachio Sponge Moss, Chocolate Rocks) to The Grand Brass (Vanilla Grand Marnier Soufflés, Double Cream Gelato, Jivara Chocolate Sauce).

The Fullerton Love Story Tour is available for booking online on Saturday, 29th April, 6th May and 13th May from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. at http://afullertonlovestorytour.peatix.com. The tour will take place from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, followed by desserts at The Courtyard. Tickets are priced at $78 nett for adults and $58 nett for children (ages between 6 to 11 years old).

“Where the River Always Flows II” by TENG Ensemble

The TENG Ensemble returns to the iconic National Monument, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore on 29 April 2017, from 7.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. with a brand new set of Singapore-inspired works. The showcase entitled “Where the River Always Flows II” will include songs by P Ramlee and Zubir Said, a mash up of Rasa Sayang and Di Tanjong Katong, as well as two specially commissioned East-West pieces by The Fullerton Heritage. This instalment will also feature two guest artists: accordionist Syafiqah ‘Adha and 2016 Noise Singapore alumni, Mars. 

The title “Where the River Always Flows II” draws reference from the Singapore River that is rich in history; a lifeline to Singapore in our formative years. The TENG Ensemble’s performance on the grounds of The Fullerton Hotel, at the mouth of the Singapore River, aims to bring listeners a taste of Singapore’s heritage music that has shaped not just a Singaporean culture, but an identity. Both the young and old can hum along to familiar Singaporean tunes as they embark on a nostalgic revisiting of the Singapore River that was once abuzz with life and activities.
